Heydi Vásquez

Name: Heydi Vásquez

Occupation: Founder of Ara´kai Beauty. A curated space in the centre of Copenhagen dedicated to clean beauty and result driven facials.

What jewellery did you wear in the portrait?  Green Eye earrings & The Sun ring by Elhanati, a pinky ring by Sophie Bille Brahe and a vintage bracelet embellished with diamonds by Sys Bjarnhof.

What is your own favourite piece of jewellery, and why? I recently gifted myself the Sun Ring by Elhanati. It's a gold ring with a beautiful white iridescent opal stone and a diamond. It represents a change of direction in my life. I worked in fashion for 15 years and recently decided to leave it all behind to embark on a more slow paced - and to me - meaningful path and Ara´kai Beauty was born. The ring is a sign of new beginnings, a token of gratitude & appreciation to myself for all I have achieved thus far.

Can you describe a cherished memory connected to jewellery? For my 15th birthday, an important celebration in latin culture, I was gifted a Cartier watch by my parents, which I still keep today.

What does jewellery mean to you? My first memories of jewellery come from watching my mother getting ready and choosing from her treasured collection. She always had an affinity for unique jewellery pieces and would never leave the house without earrings, a statement ring and a wide cuff bracelet. For me, jewellery evokes an underlying sense of connection with my mom.

How do you use jewellery – do you have a daily uniform, do you wear special pieces for parties, is it embellishment, a second skin, or? I'm very minimal when it comes to jewellery. I wear the same earrings and rings every day and only take them off for sleeping. Every so often I may exchange a ring or a necklace according to what I’m wearing. If I feel like dressing up or in a festive mood I would put on a pair of statement earrings and a cuff.
