Anna Jewsbury started Completedworks in 2013, with no formal jewellery training. That may be why the work looks so unlike anyone else’s - the pieces fold, crumple, twist and knot as if the metal were fabric or soft clay, and many earrings are deliberately lopsided or mismatched. Baroque pearls are used often in her designs, with their irregular shapes suiting the off-balance forms. Even the names are unusual, closer to lines of poetry than product names, such as the "time is layered in ice" earrings, or the "dazed by suburbia" necklace. The same ideas run through her ceramics and furniture, which sit alongside the jewellery in her studio, a converted pub in Marylebone. She works in recycled silver and gold, in combination with more alternative materials such as resin. The brand has a devoted following, including plenty of people who know a pair of Completedworks earrings on sight.
