Ciara Bowles grew up in London and studied jewellery and silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art. She worked with established jewellery houses before launching her own fine jewellery, and she now works from a studio at Cockpit Arts in London, a creative hub. Her pieces look old at first glance. She’s fascinated by medieval jewels, and you can see it in the rich, dense settings and the way her stones sit together. But the colour is joyful and pure London: pinks next to orange, red next to green, and halos packed with mixed gemstones. She casts her pieces using the lost-wax method, in recycled gold, and many of her stones are reclaimed. A lot of her clients come to her for engagement rings that don’t look like engagement rings.
